Terms and Conditions
SAFE IN COMMON exists to provide a place to carry out our mission and build a positive community with one another. It is our desire for those involved to discuss issues, share stories, ask questions, and receive encouragement from each other on topics specific to injection safety. We realize that people may look to us as an informed resource on injection safety matters. On occasion SAFE IN COMMON would like to share its perspective via Community moderation.
To post messages or content to the Community, you must register as a member. This registration is free of charge. By registering, you indicate your acceptance of the following Terms of Membership:
Joining our Community
To register for the SAFE IN COMMON Community, you must be at least 18 years old to register as a member and post.
Registration and Termination
When you register on our Community, we collect your email address and member name. Periodically we may use this information to contact you regarding site updates, events and promotions or a violation of these terms of service. However, we will never rent or sell your personal information. Please see our Privacy Policy for more information. Should you wish to terminate your membership please email us at info@safeincommon.org. Safe In Common also reserves the right to terminate your membership due to breach of this contract.
Author Photo Guidelines
By submitting a photo to illustrate your post or content you are granting us permission to display the photo on our Website. Please ensure that the photo is modest and contains no information that would identify your place of employment, home, church, school, or community. Photos should not include anyone's likeness other than your own. In addition, do not post images that are copyrighted by of third parties.
User Name Guidelines
Our Community does not allow for duplicate user names and email addresses. If the name or address you enter is already in use, you will be prompted to choose another one.
To prevent a member from using another member's user name, each user's account is password protected with email verification. When you register, you will receive an email verifying the user name and password you chose. If you forget your password and cannot obtain it through the Community's email my password process, we are unable to provide it for you. Instead we will reset it and inform you of the temporary password so you can access your account and create a new password.
Restrictions on Use of Our Online Materials
All materials contained in the SAFE IN COMMON web site ("Online Material") are the copyrighted property of SAFE IN COMMON. All trademarks, service marks, and trade names are proprietary to SAFE IN COMMON. No Online Material from our Websites may be copied, reproduced, republished, uploaded, posted, transmitted, or distributed in any way, except that you may download one copy of the materials on any single computer for your personal, noncommercial home use only, provided that you 1) retain all copyright, trademark and propriety notices, 2) you make no modifications to the materials, 3) you do not use the materials in a manner that suggests an association with any of our products, services, events or brands, and 4) you do not download quantities of materials to a database, server, or personal computer for reuse for commercial purposes. You may not, however, copy, reproduce, republish, upload, post, transmit or distribute our Online Material in any way or for any other purpose unless you get our written permission first. Neither may you add, delete, distort or misrepresent any content on the SAFE IN COMMON web sites. Any attempts to modify any Online Material, or to defeat or circumvent our security features are prohibited.
Everything you download, any software, plus all files, all images incorporated in or generated by the software, and all data accompanying it, is considered licensed to you by SAFE IN COMMON or third-party licensors for your personal, non-commercial home use only. We do not transfer title of the software to you. That means that we retain full and complete title to the software and to all of the associated intellectual-property rights. You're not allowed to redistribute or sell the material or to reverse-engineer, disassemble or otherwise convert it to any other form that people can use.
Submitting Your Online Material to Us
All remarks, suggestions, ideas, graphics, comments, or other information that you send to SAFE IN COMMON through our site (other than information we promise to protect under our Privacy Policy), becomes and remains our property, even if this agreement is later terminated.
We don't have to treat any such submission as confidential, and you can't sue us for using ideas you submit. If we use them, or anything like them, we don't have to pay you or anyone else for them. We will have the exclusive ownership of all present and future rights to submissions of any kind. We can use them for any purpose we deem appropriate to our SAFE IN COMMON mission, without compensating you or anyone else for them.
You acknowledge that you are responsible for any submission you make. This means that you (and not we) have full responsibility for the message, including its legality, reliability, appropriateness, originality, and copyright.
Information About Health
Information accessible on this site is not intended to substitute for professional medical advice and information. Information provided is general in nature and may be helpful to some people but not others, depending upon their personal medical needs. Views and Opinions
Content posted on our site express only the views of the author of the message and do not necessarily reflect the views of SAFE IN COMMON or any person or entity associated with us. Therefore, you agree that neither SAFE IN COMMON, nor any person or entity associated with this community, may be held responsible for the contents, accuracy, completeness or validity of any information contained in them.
Moderation
SAFE IN COMMON moderates all content before it is made public. This policy is to help foster a safe environment for all Community users. Any user who believes that content or a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email at info@safeincommon.org. Upon receipt of such notification, we will make every effort to take such action as we deem necessary within a reasonable period of time. Since this is a manual process, you are advised that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.
Inappropriate Material
You agree that you will not use our Community to post any comments or material, or links to any material, which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's right of privacy or publicity, an infringement on the copyright of any third party, or otherwise in violation of any law. This includes disguising profanity through mixing letters and symbols. Any posts containing profanity or disguised profanity will be edited or removed.
Representation
You agree that you will not misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person, including utilizing their user name, photo, or other account information. The information you provide during registration should be accurate and current. You are and shall remain solely responsible for what is distributed under your user name.
Expectation of Privacy
You recognize that the online community is for public not private communication and therefore you have no expectation that the information you share is secure. You make disclosures of your personal information at your own risk, including but not limited to your name, email address, and image. SAFE IN COMMON is not responsible for the use or misuse of your personal information by third parties. See our privacy policy for more information.
Indemnity
You should be skeptical about information provided by others and understand that your use of any information posted is at your own risk. To further clarify, we are not responsible for and disclaim any and all liability for the opinions, advice or recommendations posted or sent by users.
We are unable to ensure that other users will comply with the Terms of Use that we have in place. Therefore, you assume all risk of harm or injury that may result from a lack of compliance on someone else's part.
Links to other sites
Links to other sites that take you outside of the SAFE IN COMMON site are beyond our control. Therefore, we are not responsible for those sites or what they offer. We strongly urge you to perform due diligence before moving forward with any transaction with other parties. Also, we cannot be held responsible for the accuracy, legality, or decency of any material contained on sites outside of our own. In addition, you waive any claim against SAFE IN COMMON with regard to content you give to third party sites, including credit card and other personal information.
If you purchase or utilize any of the products, businesses, or services advertised or offered by users on this site, you do so at your own risk. This is also true of any response to solicitations or contributions and donations.
Prohibited Content
The SAFE IN COMMON Community does not permit name calling or personal attacks. Posts that attack and/or disrespect others or SAFE IN COMMON will not be allowed. Disagreements will arise and we ask that they are addressed respectfully.
Advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, journalism, personal research, marketing and solicitations are not allowed.
Our Rights
SAFE IN COMMON reserves the right to delete or block access to websites posted by Community users.
SAFE IN COMMON reserves the right to edit or delete any message or content for any reason whatsoever, at our sole discretion. You agree that you are solely responsible for the content of your messages and that you will indemnify and hold harmless SAFE IN COMMON and its agents and employees with respect to any claim based upon the appearance and/or transmission of your message(s).
SAFE IN COMMON, at its discretion, may bar registration from any specific email service or ISP or inactivate a user's membership.
Copyrights
You agree that you will not post any copyrighted third-party material without the express permission of the copyright holder.
Privacy
In the event of legal action arising from any message posted by you, SAFE IN COMMON reserves the right to reveal your identity and any other information we may know about you.
